This year, engineering schools all across Canada are competing to see who can donate the most blood to Canadian Blood Services, and the school with the most donations will win a prize! Join us on Thursday, November 6th at 5:30 as Guelph Engineering heads to Canadian Blood Services to donate blood. Transportation will be provided, we will meet at the Mountain Hall Parking Lot. You can make a difference – just one blood donation can save up to three lives! Come out to the atrium on November 6th at 7pm for a casino night run by engineering alumni! Alumni from all years and programs will be running casino tables all night, giving you the time to play and network! There are prizes to be won and connections to be made! CFES BLOOD DRIVE
Do you want to get involved in the national engineering community? Guelph has taken on a position with CFES to run a national blood drive, and we need people to help with organization! Commitment is 1-3 hours a week, please email email@example.com for more information!

GOLDEN GEARS – TRICK OR EAT
Trick or Eat is an annual, student-led, national event dedicated to helping the 40% of Canadian post-secondary students who experience food insecurity. On Halloween night (October 31st), instead of candy, students from UofG will go door to door to collect food for the Campus Food Bank. GUELPH ENGINEERING COMPETITION ALERT
The Guelph Engineering Competition (GEC) is set to take place on Saturday, November 3rd! GEC will consist of 4 competitions: Junior Design, Senior Design, Consulting Engineering and Re-Engineering. Junior Design is open to 1st and 2nd year students, Senior Design is open to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th Years. The Consulting and Re-Engineering Competitions are open to students enrolled in all years.
The 1st Place Winners from each competition, will represent Guelph Engineering at the Ontario Engineering Competition. A registration fee of $20 per group (3 to 4 members) needs to be paid at the time of registration! Don’t have a team? Don’t worry! Individual registrations will be accepted and we will create teams! Registration will begin Thursday October 18, 2018 at the EngSoc Office and will continue till Wednesday October 31, 2018. Spots are limited! So register as soon as possible!

LAB FUND FOCUS GROUP
The Lab Fund focus group will be on Thursday, October 30, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
Lab Fund is always improving and we’d love to hear your feedback. If you would like to discuss the current Lab Fund procedure, this is a great place to do it. We will collect the meeting minutes and use them to build on Lab Fund. It is also a great opportunity to discuss motions for SAGM.

Have questions about obtaining your P.Eng? A PEO representative will be hosting an informational session on becoming a licensed engineer! This is happening in THRN room 1365 at 6pm on Oct 23. Plus free pizza!
PROJECT SOY COMPETITION
It is with great enthusiasm that we invite you to compete in the 2018-2019 Project SOY competition! Project SOY is a competition for students at the University of Guelph to come up with new innovative uses for soybeans. Project SOY is a great way for students to network themselves as well as build their resume – all while enhancing their research and development skills. Teams that compete will be reimbursed up to $300 for any materials they may need in order to work on their project. Students from the University of Guelph are welcome to compete under our graduate or undergraduate category and have many chances to win cash prizes. First place from each category will be awarded $2500, second place $1000, and third place $500. Even if a group doesn’t make the podium they will still be rewarded with $100 in order to recognize their hard work and efforts. PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION
Think you can carve the best Halloween pumpkin? Gather a team of up to 5 friends and come out to the Wellness Lounge on October 30th to compete in EngSoc’s Pumpkin Carving Contest! It’s $5/team, and the team that carves the best pumpkin will win a prize. Sign up begins Monday, October 22nd at the EngSoc office! 🎃
SEMI ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Semi-Annual General meeting will be on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
The Semi-Annual General meeting is your opportunity to amend the Constitution. There will also be FREE PIZZA. If you feel that the student body could benefit from some changes, then this is your opportunity to leave your mark. Attached is the motion template and the current constitutions.

The Motion Jam will take place on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 5:30 – 6:30.
If you want to write a motion, but don’t know where to begin, we can help. The VP Internal will be there to help with wording and to explain the current constitutions. You can also talk to us about motions you would like to see proposed.
You may have set the bar up for midterms but now it’s time to go bar down with the ENGG soccer tournament!
It will be held November 17th from 5-9 pm in the field house. You can sign up as a team or as a free agent for $5 each at the EngSoc office.

Join us this Thursday to learn about the importance of sustainable food system, challenges facing farmers globally, and the reasons why EWB invests in ventures and organizations fighting food insecurity! Our interactive session this Thursday will be a good break from midterms!
